The New AQUIS Hair Towel Is My Favorite One Yet

Before AQUIS introduced its unique water-wicking hair towels in 2017, I was using a standard bath towel to dry my hair, which was A) way more towel than necessary and always fell off if I bent over, and B) always left my hair frizzy and in need of a great round brush and blowdryer. Now, I am finally beginning to embrace my natural texture (and also drying my long hair a bit faster) with the help of the brand’s newest innovation called the FLIP. Here’s what I like about it.

My Hair Type:

I have long, dirty-blonde, fine, balayaged hair. It doesn’t always look fine because I have a lot of hair, but I promise it is.

The Benefits:

AQUIS is known for its patented AQUITEX technology that gives the fabric its uniquely woven, quick-wicking channels that allow hair to dry faster without heat or frizz-inducing friction. It actually works to reform hydrogen bonds in the hair to improve its strength and keratin structure. In a scientific study, it was clinically proven to leave hair up to five times stronger than traditional drying methods, and this was tested on bleached hair. Though it works on all hair types, I think it is a great product for people with overprocessed or damaged hair that needs a little more TLC, especially when it comes to drying, which is when a lot of additional damage can be done.

Another cool feature is the COPPERSURE antimicrobial technology that keeps the towel fresher for longer so you don’t have to wash it as frequently (it’s machine-washable), but you definitely want to hang it up after each use so it can dry and air out. And perhaps the coolest feature, especially in terms of sustainability, is that the fabric is powered by recycled water bottles. What does that mean exactly? Four PET plastic bottles are broken down and then woven into recycled fibers that are used to create the towel.

Some turbans (even some of the earlier AQUIS designs) didn’t comfortably fit my long hair, but the FLIP fits my entire length and stays in place as I’m getting ready and doing pretty much anything around the house, like laundry or cleaning up after my daughter (this is a non-negotiable for me when it comes to hair towels). It also doesn’t feature a really tight piece of elastic around the hairline piece, which some others do, to the point that I have an indention on my forehead sometimes after taking it off. This one is super comfy. It comes in three colors—Gray, Pink and White—and although $50 may seem a little steep for a towel, if you’re like me, this is something you are going to use every single time you wash your hair and helps protect the health of your hair.

How to Use It:

Flip your hair over and place the elastic area on the back of your neck, then twist your hair into the towel like you would any towel. Flip back over and tuck the loose ends into the blue stretchy band to secure them. The brand says you can also use it for plopping or to dry targeted areas.

The Bottom Line:

This is a must-have for those who want their hair to dry faster in an easier, healthier way—this new design is also super comfortable—and as we approach the holiday season, it would make a perfect gift.
