PHOTO TOUR: Sightour Ophthalmic Hospital, Hangzhou – HCD Magazine
The goal for medical group Sightour’s (Shanghai) first hospital in China was to build a flagship medical facility for ophthalmic diagnosis and treatments.
Designed by M Moser Associates (Shanghai), the 21,064-square-foot project is located in Hangzhou, along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The three-story building was inspired by its location, with elements reflecting light and water delivering a futuristic exterior.
Inside, the team worked to balance natural, comfortable, and simple design with efficiency and convenience. This was applied to day-to-day circulation, medical equipment placement, and varied treatment experience by age group.
The interiors showcase a range of harmonious floor patterns and colors, including pupil-inspired graphics. Biophilic design elements, such as ample natural light introduced by a skylight and wood grain, add warmth.
