WORLD-class dining has just been confirmed in the latest Michelin Guide for Florida, USA restaurants.
The Sunshine State’s chefs picked up 11 out of 15 awards possible, effectively placing their restaurants on the world map of 35 participating countries in earning one of the world’s most revered dining distinctions in Greater Miami and Miami beach. Known as an international holiday and vacation destination, area restaurants also picked up Bib Gourmand distinctions, Sommelier of the Year and the Exceptional Cocktails Award. The awards were released on Thursday, 9th June by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“We are delighted to partner with Visit Florida and our colleagues in Orlando and Tampa to introduce Florida’s first ever Michelin Guide,” said David Whitaker, Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau President and CEO. “This prestigious honour serves to solidify Miami and Miami Beach as one of the most sought after business and leisure travel destinations in the world.”
The Michelin Star award looks for quality, flavour mastery, technique, harmony and balance and the chef’s personal influence in cuisine along with time-tested consistency across entire menus and more than half of all restaurants in Greater Miami and Miami Beach were recognised.
L’Atelier de Joёl Robuchon was the only two-Michelin-Star restaurant among the 11 star awards while 29 restaurants across three cities earned the Bib Gourmand designation. Miami has the only restaurants that received special Sommelier of the Year and Exceptional Cocktails awards, Victoria James of Cote Miami and Ruben Rolon, L’Atelier de Joёl Robuchon.
“Despite the challenges of the last couple of years the growth of our local culinary industry can be credited to our community’s resilience, said David Whitaker. “Miami is not only an international destination but also a melting pot of cultures with food being key to showcasing the different traditions from around the world that call Miami and Miami Beach home.”
