Global music megastar Wizkid has taken to his social media to promise his fans that he will be dropping new music soon. Wizkid, in a post on his Instagram Story, revealed that it has been two years since his last release. He then proceeded to assure fans that he will soon be dropping something.

In the post made on Wednesday, August 17, the Grammy winner stated “2 years since my last release and we still getting to it. Una Popsy go soon drop…soon come.” The post generated excitement from fans who have been desperately waiting for a new single from the star. Wizkid has a reputation for promising new materials before going radio silent. While his new comment might inspire hope considering that he’s due for a new single, precedents suggest that fans should manage their expectations.

2. Mariah Carey moves to trademark ‘Queen of Christmas,’ legal battles may begin

Mariah Carey‘s bid to trademark the title “Queen of Christmas” hasn’t landed well with other notable holiday music artists Darlene Love and Elizabeth Chan, and it may result in an upcoming legal battle. According to reports, Chan was once called the “Queen of Christmas” and chose to file a formal declaration of opposition against Carey. In the filing, the singer pointed out that “Carey has said in interviews that she doesn’t want the title.” Meanwhile, Darlene Love is known for her Christmas hits that have spanned over six decades including her album Queen of Christmas. She also releases new hits yearly just in time for the holidays but with the new trademark, Love finds herself stuck on how to move forward.

3. South Africa: SA singer Jonathan Butler says he was ‘racially profiled’ at US restaurant

SA musician Jonathan Butler wants people to speak up about racism after he felt racially profiled at the Goose & Gander restaurant in California, USA. The singer and guitarist took to his Instagram timeline on Tuesday to recall his experience at the eatery, claiming the manager followed him to his car after he paid the bill, questioning him about whether he had tipped the waiter who served him.

Jonathan said he confronted the manager about offending him but he gave no response. He urged his followers to speak up against any kind of racism.

4. Sony Music Publishing opens Nigeria office, appoints Godwin Tom as MD

Global music powerhouse Sony Music Publishing has announced the expansion of its operations across Africa with the opening of a new office in Lagos, Nigeria. In light of this, the company has appointed creative executive Godwin Tom as Managing Director, reporting to President, International Guy Henderson. In his capacity as the head of the Nigeria division, Godwin will oversee the company’s expansion into Africa as it aims in growing its roster of songwriters and composers across the region.

With over twenty years of experience, Godwin Tom has a deep understanding of the African music industry and has fostered relationships with top stakeholders in Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. 5. Elon Musk clarifies tweet on potential Old Trafford takeover

SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk has clarified a tweet that indicated his interest in buying Manchester United. He added: “No, this is a long-running joke on Twitter. I’m not buying any sports team. Although, if it were a team, it would be Man U. They were my fav team as a kid.”
